Yammar 8 hp - stuffing box drip?

As I previously posted a few weeks ago I bought a C&C 26 with an 8 HP single cylinder Yamar engine. I bought the boat while on dry dock and am trying to get as much out of the way before next spring.
****The previous owner told me that the stuffing box drips about a drop every 15 seconds or so but this was never an issue as far as he was concerned. Some tell me not too worry while others feel that is way too much . I spoke to a recommended local marine maintenance man who suggested to evaluate the leak after it's in the water and if it leaks too much just to tighten the box. --He also advised that there always should be a slight leak--- --------OK can anyone tell me from experience what an acceptable drip interval?

UPDATE: Just found this excellent link on how-to repack a stuffing box--
