How to view PM's

After a few weeks of being a member, making some posts, and participating; I'm still getting blocked from reading my PM's.

Any suggestions?

Thanks-

Re: How to view PM's

Sorry.. forum rules stipulate a minimum post count of 15 before PMs are enabled.... so post a bit more.. you're over half way there.

Re: How to view PM's

Faster,

When you say 15 posts to enable PMs, doesn't that mean writing them? It has been a long time since I had fewer than 15 posts, but I could swear I read them but could not write them when I had fewer than 15.

If memory serves, what I did was click on the "Private Messages" hyperlink in the pane saying "Welcome dacap06" in the upper right hand corner of the sailnet web page. Admitedly, sometimes memory is a poor servant these days. So am I suffering a senior moment, remember something that never was?

Re: How to view PM's

I always thought you could read the body of text in the email notifications at least, not sure about the PMs themselves.. but recently several new members have had issues, and the email notifications were simply notices, without the message in it...

This seems to have been the case since the last version upgrade, a year or two back..

Thanks, Faster. I wonder if that is a configurable item? It might be worth an e-mail to the web site admins.

Re: How to view PM's

I'm sure it is configurable.. it's a pretty standard forum anti-spam measure to allow us time to weed out the obvious spammers before the membership is deluged with spam PMs. One feature - ie that newbies can send/receive PMs with mods - had been 'lost' in that upgrade. That is now supposed to be fixed, so puddle, if you can't PM me it would be good to know that.

We realize it can be inconvenient at times, but it doesn't take that long to rack up 15 posts.. ask questions, play in the 'song chain', there's a 'newbies trash bin thread' as well.
