Trying to get my post count up so you won't think I'm a web bot.

Glad I ran across this post, don't want to brake any rules.

What's my count now?... 1.

Okay - now THAT'S funny. This thread is becoming the "Song Chain" thread - the place you go to get your post count up. Heh-heh.

Welcome to SN dude.

I do sort of understand the 10 post minimum to prevent weird stuff from happening but, I'm sure most people come here for help and since a picture is worth a thousand words...I'd think newbees posting pictures would be more desirable than having them try to paint a perfect word picture of their situation.

Also, without 10 posts I can't see all that is available, therefore, I don't get the full benefit of this great forum.

Is there a post I can go to just to get my 10 post minimum out of the way? (song chain I guess, I'll take a look)

I want to enjoy this forum to it's fullest.

I have 2 posts under my belt...8 more to go!

New to sailing and to this site. Living on Cape Cod since May 2011, have been on a couple of sailboats, over this past summer with friends out of the harbor here. Delighted with these experiences and wanting to learn more, my friend sent me this link. Will be exploring here hopefully learning more, before I am once again on a boat.

Hey princess - welcome to SN. You'll like the place. Oh - and don't worry too much about "rules". This forum is about sailing - not etiquette.

Thanks for the welcoming! Am heading out to Newport RI to check on a boat that a friend has anchored in the harbor over the winter! Not knowing a lot about this, wondering if that is normal, for I thought most boats were either brought to the docks or even pulled from the water to have work done on them over the winter season. Looking forward to reviewing the chats and becoming more a part of the SN family.

Winter in Newport

When I had a day sailor in Warwick Cove, I took her out for the winter. This was a good winter for your friend to pick for leaving the boat in. I've thought of getting a mooring at Newport, it a great place to visit with launch service until 1:00 AM in the summer.

Do you know of anyone that has had any issues with being at the docks at the Pier 49 Marina, or with the Harbor Master, as a result of being on anchor or moorings in Newport RI? Seems my friend may have issues with having left his boat in the anchorage area for this long.
