Think of what the ribs in a wood boat would look like. Only much smaller. Maybe only 1/4 to 1/2" in thick and about 1/2" wide. You pick the thickness based on the thickness of the insulation you put in between them. Put them about 12 to 18" apart depending on the curve. Epoxy them to the hull. You can notch them so they will make the curve.
They are just someting to put the slats on (nail, screw glue). (cealing in wooden boat talk).
