Replacing carpet with cedar

I was thinking of replacing the carpet that lines the v birth with cedar. Does anybody have any suggestions on the best way to adhere it to the haul? Should I use sleepers or directly to fiber glass haul? Has anybody use cedar in this application before or any other type of wood? Thanks.

I have not done it myself in 30 plus years but a recent article showed someone who glued on sleeper's, they notched them to get them to bend. Then filled the spaces with insulation and screwed on 1/4" by about 2.5" slats.
It's a lot of work but would look nice. Insulation would only be useful if you needed it for heat or cold control.

did this on our previous boat, an Islander 29....expoxied scarfed strips to the hull and then put insulation between (helped the sweating at least). Used some 1x4's cut to different lengths to wedge them strips to the hull while the expoxy set. Cedar strips were then glued with construction adhesive and electric nail gun and short tacks to secure the strips in. Cedar was some you get at Lowes for closets.....maybe 1/4 inch. Done 4 or 5 years ago and still there. Some varnish over and looks good.

This sounds like something I'd like to do to the v-berth on my boat; give it a little warmth. But what the heck is a sleeper?

Think of what the ribs in a wood boat would look like. Only much smaller. Maybe only 1/4 to 1/2" in thick and about 1/2" wide. You pick the thickness based on the thickness of the insulation you put in between them. Put them about 12 to 18" apart depending on the curve. Epoxy them to the hull. You can notch them so they will make the curve.
They are just someting to put the slats on (nail, screw glue). (cealing in wooden boat talk).

Love the Plasteak! just so expensive ... I'm thinking about trying Home Depots snap together wood flooring, no holly contrasts but some claim good water "resistance". I mean if the cabin floor gets wet then i have more problems then $50 worth of fake wood....
