28.5 1972 Irwin center board

Good morning all,

Purchesed our Irwin last June and sailed her from NC. to Boston(first time I ever sailed) what a forgiving boat. Now she is out of the water I see why I was not able to put the center board down grouth and stuff growing in the center board cavity, should I clean it out and rebuild it? or seal it up and forget? any sug.
