Portlights restoration (20 min project)
Hi guys,
Just want to share my quick 20 min project which produced unexpectedly amazing results. Maybe there are easier solutions for this but i love the result.
I have 30 years old portlights on my Bayfield 32 all shady and you could barely see thru (see picture 1 of original condition).
Browsing Walmart last week I noticed "Headlight leans restorer" from Turtle Wax. It was $15 or $20 - enough stuff for 20-30 portlights. Easy to apply, not much rubbing and you can see the result on picture 3 - like new portlight. When I have time, I'll remove them from the frame to clean the edges, use the restorer again on both sides and re-seal.
It will not remove heavy scratches but I do not have much. The kit has some extra steps for heavy cases but I used only quick step 1. It's much more light in the cabin now and everything looks fresher.
Hope this helps.
