Mid 70's Crown 23 question

Has any one owned or sailed a Crown 23' manufactured in victoria BC, in the mid seventies? I am curious to how they handled.

These boats are essentially scaled-down Cal25s - we haven't owned one but I know of one that was owned by some acquaintances.. it seemed to serve them well. As ever, with boats of that vintage do a real good inspection and a proper survey if the initial inspection doesn't show up anything fatal.

They won't be lightning quick but today's standards, but for gunkholing around the Gulf Islands as a starter it would be fine, if a bit cramped and essentially 'camping cruising'.

is the rudder control through the hull more prone to have problems then a transom mounted rudder? seems to to fill up the cockpit a bit more than a transom mount for sure.

There's bound to be a chance of some bushing wear after all these years, but that's not fatal. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless a survey turns up a structural issue with the blade or the stock itself.

Are you nearby? I may know this boat......

the interior. Seems all the surveyers fly south in this area as well.haha.

I purchased the boat, we are very happy. One question though, the main sail is a little "sticky" when hoisting. Is dry lubing the track on the mast something that is recommended?

McLube is usually suggested.....
