Marine Head (Peggie ? )

I have a Jabsco 29090-3000 on my Cat 320. This is the "Twist N Lock" model.
With the fluch control lever in the shut position while emptying the bowl, I have pressure or resistance which can be eleminated to permit emptying the bowl if I hold the flush control lever fully over by hand while finishing the pump. Which parts need to be replaced? Is there a diagnostic procedure? I have the owner's manual with exploded view with part numbers.

Normally when one part in the head needs replacing there are others that are close to needing replacing. I would buy the standard Jabsco refit kit and replace all the parts that comes in the kit. It is very simple.

If you are up to it you can always take the thing apart and rinse all the rubber valves etc. in vinegar and then rub them with a bit of cooking oil before installing them again (a bit of a shitty job).

To maintain the head in working condition as long as possible add vinegar directly in the bowel and pump it slowly through the system over an hours time a few times a year. Adding a few spoons of cooking oil directly in the bowl regularly and then pumping it through also works miracles on the Jabscos in terms of durability and smoothness in the pumping action. As soon as I hear the smallest squeak I give it a bit of cooking oil it makes a mega difference - I promise.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but....
One of the best ways I have ever found to 'fix' a Jabsco (cheap!) head is to replace it with Raritan PH2.

I did this once. Sat on the dock with a toothbrush cleaning crusted salt and poop and the brush flicked stuff into my face.


yeah yeah, don't do that. duh.

Here's the thing though: the refit kit is like 60, and an entire pump is 99. (they used to be only $10 or so apart which made it a REALLY easy choice)

but even for $40, it's SOOOOOOO much better to just replace the whole thing
