Depth sounder advice needed

I have an Apelco 265 Depth sounder. The display gradually went belly up. First getting darker, then a blister and finally it's not readable. I called the people at Raytheon and they no longer sell replacement parts for this model. The guy I spoke to said that theoretically I could adapt the transducer it to another display but it would be very expensive. (I imagine frequency and plug configuration are issues in mixing displays.) I hate to take out/destroy the old transducer, glued through the hull. Is there another alternative?

Thanks

Transducers have several common freqs. If your new sounder is compatible {same freq} and you can adapt the plug end it should work. You dont need a dual freq for a simple depth reading But the technology is always changing and our need to upgrade a constant factor. Good luck.
