Caught on the return from this year's HMR off-shore race...

First one on a dolphin rig, bigger one on a silver lure to match the small fish that were jumping from a feeding frenzy. 2 rods in holders off the stern rail while sailing at 6 knots.

Worked it exactly as tempest laid out above.

Good times. And super tasty fish.

The one I have is a small unit with about a 30" rod off it and a crank for the wire reel. It is mounted off my arch and the weight is not too bid. I will probably get a few weights of different sizes for my cruising. Attaching a lighter monofil from the swivel on the downrigger to the swivel on the lure line gives it a break away from the down rigger. Theory says I shouldn't loose too many fishies. Not wanting to go trophy for sure as it is A LONG WAY UP to the deck.
