Air X Wind Machine Marine vs Land??

Does anyone know the difference between the Air X marine version and the land version? I'm thinking it may only be the paint. Cheers

I was curious about this too. I can't find anything concrete, but I always assumed it had to do with anti-corrosion features.

Here is a link to another thread that you might find interesting, but I think Jim Cate sums it up best on the third page:

"The advantages of the marine models are all in corrosion protection -- powdercoating and maybe some additional seals and anodizing. Aluminium corrosion in a marine atmosphere is pretty hard to avoid, so I reckon that unless you are willing to disassemble a new unit and do a really good job of painting it (not easy nor particularly cheap to do), the additional cost of the marine version is a bargain."

I might be a coating over the circuit boards. But that misses the point. Someone has to say it..

Please do not get one of those insanely loud and obnoxious Air-X wind generators! You won't be able to stand the noise. Other cruisers at the anchorage won't be able to stand the noise. Don't be like the guy 2 years ago that left his boat on a mooring near us with an Air-X to keep the batteries topped off. It was constantly cycling on and off. Off was ok, but to hear that loud fluttering during the on cycle was not fun.

In a strong wind, they sound just like a Cessna or other small plane taking off.

If you found one for free somewhere, find a way to mount it in a strong wind. Listen for yourself before you consider the expense of bulding a tower for it.

Unless you are planning to anchor where there are no other boats, consider something else please.

I personnally think the AirX is a piece of junk. I have owned one for years and hated it from the begining. It simply does not produce any energy. Mike, I'll sell it to you in a heart beat. Make me an offer.
