Carpeted bulkheads

I have a 1976 Reinell 2210 that I am just starting to Reno the interior. The bulkhead has carpet on them which is definitely 70's vintage color and style, oh yuck!

I want to replace with something either laminate or a nice paneling. Which is the easiest to work with and what adhesive is recommended for applying the material?

Any suggestion is welcome. I have read Don Casey book This Old Boat first and second edition, seems rather straight forward but would like others opinions? Oh for those interested I am keeping a blog of my work and will post the URL soon.

Good on you for getting rid of the carpet..

A white laminate with some varnished trim always looks nice, and you minimize the maintenance. (the Herreschoff look).

I like that look good choice. Now do you know where this laminate can be found, lowes, west marine? Will epoxy be best for attaching?

I bought some marine vinyl to re-cover our interior cushions and has some remaining. I decided to try it on the interior bulkheads. Just bought a quart of rubber cement, measured twice, cut once and slapped it on. Looks very nice.

That must have been Reinell's standard back then. I was on a late 70's 26' sundeck Reinell once years ago. The ENTIRE interior - hull sides, overhead etc. was covered in a gray mouse fur carpet.

Pretty much everything is covered with overhead covered plywood with vinyl covering. That is gone too. Now to measure twice and cut!
