SD, when I came back on here a few months ago I found your info very helpful. As a relative newcomer though, the one thing that has taken me a little while to understand and grasp, I must say is rep power etc. There seems to be limited info available on this if you do search, with changes/changes back to how rep power works, searches often turn up old inaccurate info. Perhaps this is something you might like to look at adding info on for Newbies?? I understand that it is not a core part of participating in these forums initially, but it is a curious little thing that is hard to understand when you are new to Sailnet or internet forums.

new to this site and new to sailing. I am currently looking for a new job in an area where I can learn to sail and be part of a community, maybe retire to in the future. I want to find an attractive area that welcomes new people and is not terribly expensive. Any suggestions? Not sure if I'm using the posting system correctly. Would welcome your suggestions.

Dont worry about REP power. Some of the most knowledgeable sailors may only have a few posts and no rep. John Rousmaniere is one - amongst many other very seasoned sailors.

Read the advice. Make a determination if it is valid. Follow with discretion.

On the other hand...anyone with a rep of 4 is clearly a patzer...Do NOT even think about following any SAILING advice from such a person. Though...4's have been known to provide excellent instruction on charcoal grilling.
