Making a better email lists page

Is there a possibility of getting the email lists page redone? The view into Lyris doesn't give you much information about what lists there are, what the lists are for, etc. It's a pretty long list to just slowly read through them all.

I would think it would be fairly easy to make another HTML page which could list all of the current mailing lists, categorized by the type of list? I think that would increase the membership on those lists, and help people find lists that may be interesting to them?

I'm thinking something like:

Areas:
Eastern US List
Western US List
etc
Sailing types:
Cruising List
Liveaboard list
etc
Boat makers:
Catalina List
etc
