Missing new threads and missing replys

In the past two weeks I have made three new posts/threads, and several replys within threads that have never shown up. Yesterday two replys that didnt make it.

Nothing deraugatory in any, they just dont show up.

I amnot paranoid, so is this common/typical of posting here ?

Sometimes I have some trouble in the evening (East Coast time) posting messages. I will compose a reply, hit the "Submit" button, and then get the "page cannot be found" message. Are you sure that your messages were posted when you first composed them?

The database engine that powers Sailnet.com is having issues and they are supposedly working on upgrading it to an open-source solution that will be more robust and less buggy. That is the apparent reason it keeps crashing and losing threads, posts, etc. The problem seems to be getting far worse in the last two weeks than it has been previously—with the outages occurring more frequently and being of longer duration.

I agree, all of these have occured in the last two weeks, most within the week.

Its NOT my system/server, I moderate two lists and contribute to others and deal with +200 emails a day, none dropped.

I am new to this site, and have gotten some good info here, but there are others, and if I am spending time posting and replying for no show threads then its wasted time. I dont have time to waste. If it desnt resolve then I'll have to get my info elsewhere and just chalk it up to something that could have been good but wasnt.

I had posted two different messages concerning boat financing, and one on finding a printed 'surveyor checklist' type book or booklet to use while looking over a boat, none appeared, I searched other forums wondering if they had been moved, or I'd posted to a different forum then I'd thought. Nada. Nowhere. Searched every forum on the site.

At this rate its getting to where I am thinking advertisers may be wasting their advertising money.

I will do some checking for you guys to see if your posts are getting classifieds as spam. There are so many spammers posting crap out here we'be had to resort to installing automatic spam detection software that looks through newsposts for excessive links, specific key words, etc and perhaps the rules are little too tight. I will check to see if you're posts were classified as spam.

Jakelevi - I did some checking and you'eposts didn't get classified as spam.

What I will tell you is that we have had a number of uptime issues related to old software that was a carry forward from the old owners of SailNet. In the past two days we have removed all of their old software from system and replaced it with newer up-to-date modules. In addition we installed a new version of Apache (the web server software) and our stability issues were resolved yesterday and since that time we have not had a single unplanned outage and the site has been highly stable. We are not stopping here though. We will be moving the site off of a Windows box and onto a Linux box some night early next week which will increase the response time of the site in general. We were forced to use Windows in the past until we could remove all of the old software. Windows is certainly not our Operating System of choice for a website.

These problems were resolved yesterday - 11/1/06.
