Unable to login, suggestions?

I am a new member of this forum, and I am having real troubles with logging in. I managed to get to place a new thread on my first visit, but cannot respond to those kind and wise members who have responded.
I have had to re-register with a different user name and fear once I log out I will not be able to return.

Any ideas? This is not a case of case sensative error or lack of computer skills. Also I had a cookie blocked by IE, I changed my settings; its no longer being blocked but no change. Also the attempt to log on counter never changes from 0 toward 5. Could it be an unfriendly site?
