Strange Rules

I just received a private message from another member and would have loved to respond. Unfortunately after I wrote out my response and tried to send it, I got a message that I was not allowed to do so. It seems that I can not send a message to anyone besides the website management until I have 10 posts. I believe it said I only have 6 posts.

This makes number 7.

It's to prevent auto spammers to stop sending spam PM's to the entire membership.

I thought new members couldn't post a new thread topic unless they had at least 10 posts. This too is intended to stop those incognito auto-spammers.

Why is it then that gdavids could start a new topic with only 6 posts?
