Post icons not functioning?

I do not seem to get the post icons to function properly (the ones showing if a thread has new posts in it).
When I look in the top heirarchy I can fo instance see that in X-subforum there has been a post 3 hours ago, well within the time since i last logged in but when entering that subforum I get no icons telling me which thread has new posts in it.

Any ideas, something on my side, or a known/unknown forum software bug?
