Image Re-Sizing?

Hey admins, how bout some image resizing? It would really keep the readability of threads much better.

jackdale will become famous soon enough
You could do your own. 800X640 or 640x 480 works well.

Photobucket seems to regulate image sizes when you use the IMG CODE link...

Yes, but for the user that isn't computer savvy posting pics is already a huge hurdle. Let alone, having to think about resizing them. I usually resize my pics, but in certain instances I am not able to. The benefits of a re-sizing plugin for this forum would be terrific for it's readers/users and ease of use and overall appearance.

Here's your image, copied directly and uploaded to my Photobucket acct, then linked to here:

I did not manipulate the image at all.

Joining is free, I've never rec'd any spam or unwanted email from joining.

Create an account at Photobucket.com... click on 'upload' and you'll be prompted to rename your pic (I never do) then 'continue to album'. Your album page will have thumbnails of your pic(s).

Float your mouse over the picture and you'll get 4 linking options.. click on the bottom one - "IMG CODE" (the word 'copied' will flash for a sec) then go to your post reply, and paste the link into your post. I usually open 2 tabs and simply jump between them.

I agree an automatic function would be nice, but pending that this works well.. it also allows lurkers to see your pictures without joining (good or bad, I suppose, depending on your point of view....)

I like the thumbnail pics, they load much faster and if you want to see more you can click on image for larger version...

vBullitin supports it as well as going offsite photobucket

This site can be setup so it only allows thumbnails..

Yes, but I think the whole point is this way we don't have to 'click' or use another link, and the photos are in full view immediately.

I would think most users are no longer on dialup, which used to be a big issue, of course.

OK, but at a minimum the site could be set for max pic sizeing/single screen viewing so you dont have to scroll across to see the pic or read the message...like we're doing here...Some of us still only have 19" screens..

I host my own pics generally, I don't need a pbucket account. I posted that "my little pony" pic to illustrate the problem.

I'm just suggesting that it makes sense for sailnet to perhaps offer some more features that enhance the experience here.

There are tons of plugins for forums that are very easy to implement. Just sayin...
