Navy marina at north end of GG bridge

Is the Navy marina at the north end of GG still as such or has it converted to National Park?

Maybe it's still Navy or service-affiliated, but not run bt MWR? I don't know. if it is and you have a way to use it - current active duty/reservist or retired military - they seem to have very good rates for slips. The one's up here (Everett and Whidbey Island) were the cheapest I've found by far.

Not 100% on this, but last time I was in SF I think there was a Coast Guard station near the bridge somewhere (at least I seem to remember seeing one); could that be it?

Yes; they use the PYC marina to have quick access to the areas around the GG Bridge. On weekends there is usually one or two calls per day of windsurfers, surfers, or kiteboarders who are in distress; not to mention the weekly "jumpers". I can't wait for them to install the capture nets on the bridge for the obvious public safety reasons and so we don't have to worry so much about seeing a distraught person die while sailing in the vicinity of the bridge.
