Facebook Group created for SEAFARER YACHTS
I've spent some time this weekend surfing the internet in an effort to find as many Seafarer Yacht related sites/forums as possible. I've also created a Facebook group called SEAFARER YACHTS which is open for anyone to join and post comments, pictures, and especially links to the other Seafarer web sites that are active.

I don't want to take away from any of the other resources we have available to share information but I am interested in the appeal of a Facebook group. I think the format may be somewhat easier and more useful for posting pictures and for members to identify each other. At any rate, check out the group SEAFARER YACHTS and let's see where it goes.

I have avoided FB because I'm not interested in "social networking". I'm very interested, however, in SEAFARER YACHTS group. If I join FB, will I be able to limit interaction to only SEAFARER group?

UG, I think the answer is yes. You don't have to be "friends" with anyone to view and participate in the Seafarer Yacht group. We now have over 80 members in the group and I'm friends with only a few people. If you decide to set up a FB account, you can limit your exposure. For example I have my profile set to NOT receive email notification about anything. If I want to interact on FB it's when I log in.

For the record I think this Sailnet forum is excellent. Frankly, the old original Seafarer network started on this site over 10 years ago, but it has limitations. Seafarer Research Group web site is also one of the original sites used by Seafarer owners, and it is still a good site, but not updated frequently, and much more difficult for members to exchange ideas that Sailnet or the FB Seafarer Yacht Group.

I suggest trying the FB Seafarer Yacht Group and if you aren't pleased just delete your account. Whether on Sailnet, Seafarer Research, or the FB Seafarer Group I certainly look forward to your input.

James - I just came late to this party :-) You may remember me from the old Sailnet & Trailer Sailor days. I just looked for the FB page but found nothing - has the page been taken down?

Good to hear from you again. The Facebook group is alive and well with 88 members now. Log into FB and type "SEAFARER YACHTS" in the search. Or here's the link. Let me know if you have a problem.

You might also try to "friend me" on FB. I'll look for you also. FB name is "James H. Newsome"

Thanks James, I just responded to your friend's request.

A search for Seafarer Yachts returned 5 people with "Seafarer" in their names - go figure - but no groups. So much for FB requiring users to use their own names :-)

Just joined the Facebook group. Thanks for the info.

Thinking of purchasing a "project" 1974 Seafarer. By the looks of it, would take a couple of months worth of time and $$$. It's $1800.00 (including trailer)...

Need a few days to think about it...
