Seafarer Meridian "update"

Hello - I own a 1968 Seafarer Meridian, the "updated" version of the old Rhodes Meridian. I am looking for information on this boat - please, internet opinions have been read and re-read, so "just the facts, m'am", would be appreciated. Also I am seeking other owners of this design to share sailing information ie, how well does she sail, what are her handling foilbles, etc., and again, although I value the opinions of knowledgeable sailors, I am looking for first hand knowledge only with this thread. Thank you to anyone who replies.

I am a Seafarer owner but not the Meridian. In addition to Sailnet, here are some good web sources for Seafarers and the Meridian.

Re: Seafarer Meridian "update"

Hi there, I also own a 1968 Meridian (Hull number 242 made in Huntington, New York according to the plate). I haven't found a lot of info about this particular model of the meridian online, but I've been enjoying sailing (and working on!) my boat so far. I believe it is the 'bermuda' model. If you're still out there and still want to talk about Meridians, let me know. I've got pics, but I can't share them here (or post links) until I have been a more prolific member, so message me and I'll send you a link for the pics.

I am not sure you can get a PM either cjlmia. Maybe you should hit song thread for a few posts . . . http://www.sailnet.com/forums/off-to...ong-chain.html . Of course, you could always just start bickering with the more prolific posters. Either way, I think 10 gets you full privileges. Welcome to SN! (may you retain your better qualities!)

Re: Seafarer Meridian "update"

Hello cjlmia - I am here, and check back every so often. I would be very interested in any info./pics you would like to share. I have removed a lot of the interior on my modified Seafarer 1968 Meridian. Cheesy quasi bulkheads with wood print contact paper, head compartment too small for me to get into except backwards with pants already down (!), and a few other things, like ALL the old wiring (cobbled together many times over the years apparently). I am super interested in sailing information on this type, incl. any unusual performance characteristics, if any. If you see this write back at your convenience. Thanks.
