Palm-Top Computers and GPS Receivers

Do you know if palm-top computers can be used in conjunction with GPS receivers?

Jim Sexton responds:

I don't know of any as they seem to only support their own type of operating system, unlike Windows 95/98. Current palm-tops come with a proprietary built-in operation system, do not have a serial port to receive a GPS cable connection, and have no way of installing new or different software programs. They also have limited RAM and storage capability. Newer palm-tops may have some of these capabilities and I fully expect future ones to have all of them.
