I thought paper charts could only be purchased through agents for years now. They will still provide POD NOAA charts.

My yacht club doesn't have the demand to justify this yet, but we explored getting a high quality plotter to print charts for our members. While it wouldn't work for us, I can easily see a number of places in Florida, or other high transit areas buying a plotter (around $1,000) and printing off large scale charts for transient boats as they pass thru.

Heck I can envision larger ships stopping the practice of updating charts completely, and just printing off new charts every week instead.
