ICW January to Beaufort or GA

Just starting to research the possibility of a trip from S. FL to GA or SC. Where can I pick up the ICW in case the weather goes funny. There must be a site showing the ICW, I know there are of course pilots etc. but for now I an sailing the net.

get the east coast edition of the chart guides. Its a spiralbound book of all the charts you need for the areas you will be going to.The one problem with these is the type is small.but they are great and contain a wealth of info such as you need

Doug...it would help to know your draft and bridge clearance but in general here''s the better inlets that you can put into in most weather and hook with the ICW: (from south to north from Miami)
Ft. Lauderdale
West Palm Beach
Ft. Pierce
Cape Canaveral
St. Augustine (in settled weather)
St. John''s River (Jacksonville)
St. Mary''s River (Fernandina)
Savannah River (Savannah/Thunderbolt)

Steve Dodge has a great booklet of all the navigable inlets with chartlets, sailing directions and waypoints between Miami and Norfolk which is one way to avoid buying lots of charts. It is called something like Inlets of the Southeastern US.
Hope this is helpful...

Or you can go offshore and let the Gulf Stream help push you north. Just gotta watch out for the big guys (tanker/freighter)--seems to be a regular stream of them on that route.
