Interesting article on Panbo - community sourced depth data / charts

Hi all,

I'd encourage all of you to check out this article: Panbo: The Marine Electronics Hub: Shouldn't our community sourced marine data be open to all developers?

I really do believe that community sourced charting is the future. If you believe in breaking the chokehold of proprietary chart and vendor lock, I'd encourage you to upload your depth and sonar data to the open source movement thats afoot here: OpenSeaMap*?*Water Depths

There are so many gaps right now in http://openseamap.org/index.php?id=openseamap&L=1 but I'm sure that Sailnet members up and down the coasts of the USA as well as those traveling long distances could fill in those gaps and make this resource very powerful for all.
