Bimini possible with traveler located behind the wheel?

I am thinking about buying a Grand Soleil 37. One big concern right now is that I will be sailing during the summer, so I want a bimini for some shade. Unfortunately, the traveler is mounted right behind the wheel so putting in a traditional bimini is not an option. Does anyone know what a good solution to this problem is?

Thanks,

You could make a "split" bimini. It's actually two biminis with a gap between them that allows the mainsheet to pass through... That's actually what is offered on my boat... a main bimini for the cockpit and then a second, smaller one for the aft cockpit pushpit rail seats.

The gap between the two will have to curve slightly to allow for the changing angles of the mainsheet but should be relatively easy for a good canvas shop to make up.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Is the split bimini sold premade or do I need to custom order it?

I'm pretty sure it'd be custom made for your boat. Mind you, I don't own a GrandSoleil 37... so the one I could order wouldn't fit your boat anyway...
