Head to port slightly... but depending on how close those range lights are, turning around might be a good idea... That shore looks mighty close... and my boat is allergic to land.

Out bound I would jog to starboard a bit... and once the range lights are in line I can check my Gyro & Magnentic compasses for errors.

Allright

Looking the deviants, oh I mean deviation, onboard.

Ranges are great for that. I use one going in and out of Nanaimo Harbour. We use ranges to get through the Comox Bar and Chatham Channel, and into Sooke Harbour.

Maybe one more question on ranges.

Are they not all various indications of range markers, with the line extension indicating the safe route? (to a point ) i.e the solid line section of the extension.
