There are also blank charts for various Lattitudes for navigatiing far off shore. Have used them on ships when we are away from land. If you can get a few of those, they will be better for your needs.

Yes, Rich, that is precisely what I am going to do. I am pretty computer naive but my son is a graphic artist so I will get him to take the Ocean Prediction Center Atlantic base chart that you gave the link for, remove all the bold blue lines, add more lat. and long. divisions, crop it to the area of interest, and then take it to a local print shop and print it on large paper. I will make up a couple different scales. I might see if I can get him to put a compass rose on it, too.

I will probably also find use for the standard universal plotting charts that JackDale gave the link to for more detailed navigational planning through the Gulf Stream. I won't be racing but I still want to take advantage of what currents there may be.

The secret to sailing is good judgment. Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.

Don't have him crop it too much... you might end up out of your "area of interest" and it'd be a good idea if the plotting sheets covered whereever you ended up.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
