Weather Prediction Books?
In the book "Sea Change", the author talks about using a book that he references for weather prediction by identifying clouds. Are there any books out there that you guys keep on hand for this purpose?

Try Google...

I found Predicting Weather in about 30 seconds. I'm sure there are other sites with good info on this topic.

The following rule of thumb usually is all you need.....

"If it looks nasty, it probably is or will be shortly."

I don't know the name offhand, but I keep one of the pocket guides on the boat - maybe A Field Guide to Weather? It's like the ones I have for bird and tree identification with a plastic cover. It's small, maybe 4X6, about an inch thick and must have pictures of every possible weather event and cloud formation in the center.

I also refer to the weather chapter in Chapman's.

The pocket guide is nice to have handy when accessing the internet is not possible.

Check your local book store or library for pocket guides from Petersen or Golden Books.

Cool guys, I was looking more for what you guys used personally. I've found some and have ordered them on amazon.

Chris mass a weather instructor/predictor at the U of Washington has a number of books out, as does Jeff Renner, a local seattle TV meterologist has a book out, not sure if the latter is in print. But reality is, there are many books out that talk about clouds, what the weather may or may not do based on the look of clouds.
