It doesn't stand to reason there could be such a thing.

Re: Hurrycane safe marina in USVI

That would pretty be much an oxymoron. Several in the BVI's, but you need to haul out & that's not completely secure either.
There are no more "safe" hurricane holes in the Caribbean, either.
There are lots of great holes that quickly become filled up with so many boats (yachts, tugs, barges, small inter-island freighters, etc., that I feel my boat is safer at sea than as a target for the idiots who do not know how to anchor a boat in 100+ knot winds.
After over 50 tropical cyclones I'm pretty tired of the darned things anyway, so we're in Grenada for the season.

Re: Hurrycane safe marina in USVI

You should add the type of boat and particularly the draft. Both in the USVI and in the BVI there are some "holes" which are only open to shallow-drafted vessels.
My boat is currently on the hard in the BVI for the hurricane season and I've switched my browser home page from Google to NOAA.

No such thing as a hurricane safe marina in the USVI. Storing a boat in the water in the Caribbean during hurricane season is a crap shoot. You roll the dice and take your chances, but be prepared to lose your boat.

Re: Hurrycane safe marina in USVI

Compass Point and Independent Marinas on St Thomas are well protected back behind a few reefs and mostly tucked in among the mangroves. Draft can be an issue. There is typically a waiting list at both locations because so many boaters want to be there during hurricane season.
