anyone know what material was used to caulk between the boards on my ericson top hatch cover i need to refinish and would like to know how to treat black looking caulk between boards thanks

Black polysulphide is typically used to seal the grooves milled between overlay teak decking planks. This is available in either a one-part formula, or two-part - which for years was reputed by professionals to be the longest lasting.

Presently, I'm planning on reefing out the caulk on my teak decking and replacing with a newly developed caulk - 3M Marine Teak/Wood Seam Sealant. It's reported to be as durable as the two-part polysulphide, but much easier to work with, since no pre-mixing is required.
