Superfluous Sextant?

I would love to have a sextant for learning CN. Any of you GPS converts have one collecting dust? Please send it my way.

Considering that a good metal sextant is worth over $500 or so, it is unlikely that you're going to get one donated to you. If you're really interested in learning CN, then get a cheap plastic one...that will at least let you learn what you're doing, if you take care of it. Then, after you've learned a bit about CN, you can decided if you want to invest in a good metal sextant.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Try getting a Davis Mark III plastic sextant, less than $50 with shipping.
