What I did was .... but what I should have done is...

Ok heres a thread I think may be usefull to all of us , thats the intention anyway . Heres your chance to share something you did that you know now was wrong and what you should do , or would do in the future . All the old salts can give there account and no one will feel patrionised or belittled . I know , I know what fun is that ? Think of it as therapy you get to talk thru your issues and solve them . I'll start .

What I did was layed on the varnish way too thick , it started to curl under its self so what did I do , put some more on it to see if I could smooth it out . Wrong wrong wrong . What I should have done was walked away , come back and sanded down and started over . Dont rush your varnish it only gets worse . Way worse .

I know its not exactly a seamanship story but its the first thing I could think of that I wish I hadnt done .

What I did was think I could beat sd's shouldn't-have-done confession . . . but can't beat that one.

We're not worthy to be in the presence of such vile talent.

What I did was think this was a good way to share knowledge and experience thru misshaps in the hope that someone might learn something about sailing at the expense of others.
What I should have done was kept me festerin gob shut

nolatom will become famous soon enough
What I did was say exactly what was on my mind.

What I should've done was count to 10, or follow (whose?) good advice,:

"Never pass up a good opportunity to shut up".

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
