Someone's REALLY bad day

It happenend in North Carolina earlier this fall. The sailboat was following another boat thru the drawbridge when the operator started to close the bridge, claiming he 'never saw the sailboat.'

Huh? Kinda hard to miss, methinks!

Yikes! I can think of a hundred better ways to unstep my mast.

Do you know if a better quality image is available?

eryka,
For some reason I couldn't get your URL to work. But it seems to work after uploading the image to my photobucket account.

I found more pics and tried to hot-link them, but it didn't work either - need to click each one.

TB, Those must've been taken from a neighboring boat? Good internet skills - how did you find them? Sad, sad, sad.

Try this:
http://luminanews.com/article.asp?ai...&iid=79&sud=30

I had to shrink the photo you posted for me to fit sailnet's max. size. I scanned the original article from the local newspaper and can email it to you if you PM me (BIG attachment).

No that's OK eryka, thanks anyway.

I Googled Wrightsville Beach drawbridge accident and clicked on this link:

Someone's even much worse day:

Happens to the "big boys" too...

Welland Canal, 2001. Nobody killed, which seems unbelievable when you see the ship's bridge get crushed.
