Fishing with DuPont sinkers is illegal in most jurisdictions... if you're going to be that aggressive, I recommend a Barrett .50 cal rifle instead.

There was a moment while our skipper was turnign a shade of eggplant and fighting hard to maintain his proffessional and polite demeanour, that I actually noted to my fellow crewmember on the rescue deck "You know, if we were the US coastguard we would have the equipment to assist them in subduing that evildoer of a fish!"

IN the end, by the way, the fsh turned out to be a rather large and impressive stingray and it OF COURSE broke the line and got away...eventually.
By then the four of us on board, the guys on the towed vessel, others in the area including a pro fishing charter boat trying to get out, and some jetskiers and folks on shore were all standing around watching the show.

We managed a sincere "Oh well, you almost had him!" as we finally motored past.
