He needs to move the center of effortaft to the center of the boat to stop the yawing. A double or triple reefed main and a stay sail would have been more comfortale and easier to steer. I also agree thata deep reach would be more manageable.

I guess we all see things differently. I see a boat in a very confused sea with more than one wave train and not a lot of wind. The rougness after the storm so to speak.

And with hindsight being the pefect science that it is, I would have hoisted a reefed main to get more boat speed, left the headsail up and put a light drogue out to stabilise the yawing.

But there are probably dozens of different opinions . . . .
