Jason-

Fess up...what's the story behind the question... it's sounds like a good one.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Hey dog, it looks like he's not talking. We have ways to make him talk, we could have Giu photoshop him.

not as good a story as you think/ I got invited to go fishing on a boat by an old salty captain. he had been doing charters for many years . when pulling back into dock a local liveaboard was on the dock and offered to lend a hand. someone threw him a line and the captain yelled "make it fast" Then said "hurry up, i said make it fast!!". with him much my elder and being the captain and the person who invited me i said nothing but it has been bothering me because i was sure he was using the terminology wrong and expected him to do it quickly by saying that. Just wanted to make sure i knew the proper meaning.
Thanks for clairifying it.

jason, haven't been around boats much? Or old salties? I grew up with all nautical terms, I didn't know a head was called a bathroom until I went to grammar school. and a deck was called a floor. I can still her my father lovingly wake us up in the morning by yelling " hit the deck". He was a ww2 US Marine.

I could see him meaning "Hurry up, I said cleat the line!". More in reference to that he already asked for it to be done, and was asking again a bit more strongly.
