Not that hard to go aground coming out of Whittaker Creek. I've been in and out a number of times, and even in the channel, had moments when the depth sounder made me look twice.

Going aground.

Solid is how the boat felt sunny summer morning anchored off Wallace island. The tide hadn't start to retreat yet so I wasn't quite sure what was going on......till I started to rock the boat..........yep she's stuck. I tried using the inflatable with a Halyard to get it to over to no avail hmmmm.........I tried a few more things and decided I need another approach to this. I got my one burner stove through in a tea kettle, coffee & filters and dingied over to the dock to join the sunday morning spectators watching me. After coffee I went back over to the boat and ran a couple of lines to some trees and back to the cleats to keep it from completely going over being it was lying diagonally to a steep shore. I closed all the thru-hulls and removed the battery and then went back with my new friends on shore. Then when the tide was completely out I caught up on my spring chores and cleaned the bottom, something I wanted to do anyway so the day wasn't a complete loss.

Amen brother....had a big head slapping moment there when I realized.. Ooooh *THAT'S* what that Giant circle means around the little triangle when I'm zoomed all the way in...heh

Ran aground, in a shipping lane, at night, in 20 Knot winds, with all sails fully deployed, in the rain, and with at least 5ft seas. Hit a "Spoil" area. Thought "Spoil" meant it was merely a place that raw sewerage was discharged. Duh.

PBzeer-

I think he's figured that out now.

Jr-

If you thought it was a place that raw sewage was discharged, wouldn't you want to avoid it anyways... or do you really like sailing in xxxx??

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
