Problem leaving the dock......

Very common, your diagram looks like my set up. Spring line works or walk the vessel on the port side as stated. Push your rudder hard to starboard so that the stern will want to go to port. Feather the engine just enough to get speed; if you hit it hard, the prop wash will pull you to starboard which you are trying to avoid.

Remember, the pivot point when backing up is at the bow so be patient when backing up. It takes time and you will feel her going to port, just ride it out.
Good post Alameda..........

I am very surprised thios boat would back to starboard, i guess we have to assume that unless corrected by the OP.

I don't see the need for anything fancy here other than backing the boat out of the slip and then stopping it. The wind will blow the bow away and with a little patience the boat will end be pointing towards the channel. Use a little forward/reverse as needed to stay away from the slips on either side.

If All else fails then get a couple of small Ship Assist Tugs to help you to clear your slip.

Or a couple of Dinghies with outboards. To act as the above.

I agree. Why would the boat go starboard in reverse? Unless he has a counterclockwise screw in forward. That is a possiblity, but highly unlikely on an Ericson.

LSU, I thought on most boats that propwash in reverse causes the stern to go to Port. Unless he has counterclockwise screw with reverse pitch, his stern should kick to Port in reverse. Am I missing something here?

Please enlighten me.
In my experience and everything I have always been told, in reverse, propwash pulls the stern to Port.

sailingfool has the right idea, if you have roller furling, let out jibe sail as bow clears dock and given wind direction this will swing bow in proper direction. Then sail or motor away. Been doing this for years.
