Well if you want to be precise then have a SSB receiver on board and tuned to WWV and listen to the time ticks. Thus you don't have to shine a flashlight on your stop watch and wipe out your night vision.

Make sure your compass light works, and its nice to have a light on the windex if your tricolor doesn't illuminate it. We used to tape a small flashlight with a tight beam so it would shine on the jib telltales.

there is always night vision. milspec gen 2 stuff can be exported legally which includes bringing it with you out of the US. a 1x gen 2 milspec monocular will cost around 1400 bucks new.
