One Handed Knot Tying

I've been mapping out one handed knot tying.

I don't know about one hand knot tying, but I did watch a Coastie once pick up a piece of 30' 3/4 inch line and held it each end. He flipped his wrists about a dozens times and when he stopped he had a perfect towing bridle with a bowline tied in each end.

I also know a retired NYC fireboat engineer who ties bowlines behind his back with his eyes closed. It sounds easier than it is.

If it's behind his back, what difference does it make that his eyes are closed?

I learned to tie a bowline with one hand. Not to show off, but I figured if I ever went overboard & all anyone could do was toss me a line, doing a one-handed bowline around my mid-section might get me out of the water in a hurry.

If you are going to use the bowline to get out of the water, might as well tie a double one and step into it with your legs, much more effective than tying a single around your waist. Probably can find a picture online somewhere or its in most knot books. Excuse me if you already know this.
