Autohelm question

Any thoughts on using an Autohelm 1000 on a 12,000# boat? My intrest is to get the sails up and set and then down.

I used an Autohelm 3000 on a 30,000 lb Panda forty for 15 years. You should do fine in moderate wind and water.

Once you try it, you''re gonna like it! I suggest you go all the way and get one that''s rated to handle your craft in sailing conditions too or you''re going to be kicking yourself in the butt and spending more money later!

I gotta go with the pirate. Right now your thinking is wouldn''t it be nice to have a auto helm while you raise and lower sails, but it won''t be long when you will decide it would be nice to have the thing work while you work on sail trim or go below to grab a beer and sandwich..... Spend the extra and get one made for your boat''s weight. you won''t regret it.

Thanks for the input. I already have the 1000. I intend to upgrade as I work my way through other priorities.
