Looks like Earl could clip the coast. I am up in the Chessy and have a new slip but still looking for any tips.

If you can find a mooring, preferably one with a helical screw anchor, to use for the storm, DO IT.

The good news for Chessy and Jersey sailors is it looks like the worst of the storm will miss us. The bad news is the folks in New England may be in for a bad time.

Don't jinx us... Yes, the latest projections are looking worse for NY/NE...with the track heading closer to us than previous projections.

Lapworth,
I have seen your marina and your boat. Your biggest worry will hopefully be how much the Bay rises. The new floating docks and pilings should help if it gets nasty but the Rhode river is pretty protected. If the water level rises above the new pilings then all bets are off, I hope that does not happen.
I would seriously consider removing sails, especially roller furled jibs and any non essential deck hardware and rigging and add extra dock lines and chafing gear.
No one really knows how Earl will track. Hopefully it is close to the way the 'models' point it to be.

Even the most westernmost projections of Earl show North winds in the Chesapeake, blowing out the water. Surge will no be our problem this time -- I'm expecting lots of boats sitting on the bottom over the weekend.
