I think we have all experienced something similar. I have held my ground on occasion and other times felt that it was better to be miles away- so bit the bullet and moved, often to a different anchorage.

Powerboats and multis swing different to monos (& racing monos swing different to full keelers)

We like our own spot, but someone usually has to anchor under the swing radius.

I dont think there is any solution.

One advantage multihulls have is shallow draft, and often this allows us to anchor in places that other boats can not, or would be unwise to anchor in.

I'd point out that in the race between Man and God, where Man makes something more idiot-proof and God makes a better idiot, GOD IS CLEARLY WINNING. He doesn't have to replace his idiots—he just upgrades them in place.

If we see someone pulling off a stunt like that, generally I assume what my wife calls my "unhappy with you" stance on the foredeck.

Is that the stance with locked knees, feet planted shoulder width apart, both arms with middle fingers extended towards the offending boater?

i have found a solution to that problem for me i have a 24 ft islander a 16 lb danforth 27 ft 5/8 chain off semi and 150 1/2 rode in situations of heavy wind i also attach a 15 lb mushroom in the middle of the chain i can run 5:1 but anchor thinks 8:1 with extra mush on chain = real piece of mind for me also when others are to close i ask if they have heard forcast and suggest they anchor appropriately for expected conditions. most are happy to comply i let them know im thinking of them by doing the above with a smile.
