That is cool. I have a Army engineers compass that has a "sighter" (?) sort of like that. It's on the boat. Need to start practicing.

That's really sad, but I suspect that you're trying to by charts in the wrong place. Even WM sells charts for anywhere; check out their catalog. Then there are the chart books which are great. I have several from which I plot.

But the absolute best bargain is to get your charts directly from NOAA. You can print booklet charts at home (free) or have them printed on demand (pricey).

Makes the cost of an oversize inkjet printer and waterproof (plastic) paper outright reasonable, compared to what charts used to cost!

Many offices with an engineering department have large inkjet printers they use for prints. I used to print off charts all the time. Stop by your facilities department or your design department and see if they will let you use the printer
