We've had the rail in the water several times. I think much of it is why she's on her ear. One time, racing, in 30 kts gusting to 35, four crew, the #3 (jib) and a reef in the main, the rail was often in the water and it was all my wife could do to keep her on our tack and heading. Conversely, in 15 kt winds, just the two of us, flying the #1 (150% genoa) and a full main, both my wife and the boat were comfortable with the rail in the water.
