I am planning a tri accross the gulf of Mexico in October, where can I get good weather forcasts of the entire gulf that will give me winds and weather.
What good sources are there for this on the net .

noaa.gov is one of the best sources for weather data and forecasts. BTW, what kind of tri is it??

Sorry about that, a tri is the mispelled word trip my fingers dont always go where they are supposed to

No worries... I fat-finger it all the time..but have built-in spell check..

What kind of boat are you going to be making the trip in? Also, exactly when were you thinking of leaving... from what port, to what port... and I'll see what I can dig up for weather info for ya.

If you can afford a little bit of $$ and have an SSB...Chris Parker gives superb weather and routing advice as he is both an accomplished cruiser AND a great weather man! You can find out about his services at www.caribwx.com and clicking the "offerings" link.
If you can't afford the service...you can still listen in on the SSB and hope that the general forcasts cover precisely where you are. We used both his E-mail and SSB service for over a year and always felt it was money well spent as he was so much more precise than NOAA.
