Re: Need Suggestions for first Charter in St. Martin?

Last March we left Guadeloupe for Il de Sainte and then on to Dominica and back all in the course of a week. To be candid we were sailing a Catana 47 which goes along at a pretty good clip, so maybe...

Re: Radar on 18-20 ft sailboat

A safer cheaper engineering solution would be to enable an AIS transponder. The tanker Captain would see you and ring you up for a conversation if you set his alarms off. Your ability as a radar...

Re: Numbers in V-berth from router: Hull #?

A five digit number is invalid, so I just kept adding numbers till I hit. From the entry it looks pretty close to the description of your boat. I stopped at '4' but I suppose if the dealer...

Re: Numbers in V-berth from router: Hull #?

Obviously a previously documented vessel. Go online to the Coast Guard Documentation Center and look up her provenance. (Hopefully you won't find her title amiss or she is stolen). I would file...

Re: C&C 29 - Mark 1 vs 2

I think Ron's take is correct. In digging around I found this review posted when the boat (Mk I) was new so I suspect the numbers came from the builder.\

Question Re: C&C 29 - Mark 1 vs 2

I have often wondered myself, about the height of the mast. My IOR measurement certificate lists the I=39.9 and you have the headboard on top of that, maybe 8 to 10 inches from the black band to the...

Re: USA to Canada?

Call Glenn at ATL Trucking in Virgil. He can pick it up from the jack stands, and if he has a backhaul from the area of purchase, likely it will save you money. You could possibly store it in his...

Thumbs up Re: Transom Lettering Height?

I would bet that it would show thru the paint, although this is often the solution used in our yard. I would run out and buy a Shurhold orbital polisher and a quart of 3M Imperial and polish it out....

Re: 1978 c&c 29

Looks like your the proud owner of a Mk I, and yes go read Hank Evans review, as he was an owner. I really don't class the boat as tender, but more on the side of over canvassed. It sails very much...

Re: Transom Lettering Height?

Yes that is true, but I confused the issue. Here on the border we would like our hail port to be Niagara, but that is rejected because as you point out there is no such instrumentality. The irony...

Talking Re: Transom Lettering Height?

Coast Guard Documentation Center has the specs on their website, and the hail port is not as 'fluid' as is reported. Your legal residence or the port of documentation. That would be 'Falling...

Re: First Boat - Nunsuch?

If I were just starting out, I would buy a Nonsuch 26 which are much easier to sail. Almost as much room, lot more reasonable price, and for sure more comfortable environment in which to learn. ...

Re: Old navico tiller pilot 2500, anyone about them?

He is referred to on our boat as 'Crazy Otto". Runs for awhile then takes a hard tack to port and goes in circles. Not so often last year as we replaced the batteries and that seemed to help.
