Re: 1972 Balboa 26

How about a little more info from you? Are you looking to buy? have you seen one that has caught your eye? If so, how about info on it?
Where do you plan to sail it? Small protected bay or out...

Re: Best spray on / spray off deck cleaner for sailboats

When it comes to cleaning a boat, small electrics are hard to beat. I've loaned mine out several times. And the people I loaned them too couldn't thank me enough. I have the Green Machine I picked...

Re: Volume of returned fuel?

Remember, the more fuel that is returned to the tank, the better polishing you are getting.

Re: Sequence for offer/buying

True, but in your first post, you listed several steps in the process....Step 1, make an offer (80% of asking price).
we're saying step 1 is not a good idea.

Re: Sequence for offer/buying

Or the seller does his homework, comes up with a reasonable market price and discounts it 20% to get a quick sale. Other buyers realize it really is a steal and when you go in and take another 20%...

Re: First Boat in Years

Agree with bshock. Almost all C25's are outboards, there are more than a few C27's with outboards, never seen a C30 with one, I'm sure they were never made to handle an outboard.
That being said, I...

Re: slip vs. mooring

No one could answer your question but you as everyone is different. For me, if I had to have my boat on a mooring, I wouldn't have a boat. Of course, in my neck of the woods, moorings are basically...

Re: Moving to California...(living on a sailboat)

OK, let's talk reality. What is your budget for buying a boat? Where will you live while looking for one? Are you going to find a job first or buy the boat first? What if you buy a boat and have...

Re: generator to start A/C

If you haven't already, have you looked into one of those "soft start" options to hook up to the AC?
THere's a good chance the Honda will run your AC, but it just can't handle the high amperage...

Re: Head intake hose problem

OK, if the hose has a coiled wire built in to it, here's what you do.
Think of that coiled wire as being a spring. If you hold one end and twist the other end, depending on which direction you...

Re: cabin headroom?

You really need to give us more info on what you are looking for. I'm sure headroom is just one of many items on your list.

Just about any center cockpit boat is going to give you a very roomy...

Re: How to start engine on the hard?

My sea strainer is just a really small bucket, and just like a bucket, if you have too much water, it runs over the sides.

Re: Raising & lowering sails

When boat shopping 5 years ago, we looked at a 30 something Freedom, more out of curiosity than anything. Don't recall anything about it other than it being kinda odd looking not having spreaders...

Not sure if they are still made, but yes, Freedom Yachts...carbon fiber masts with no standing rigging.
Google it.

Re: How to start engine on the hard?

As I said, the easiest, just open up your strainer and stick the hose in. There is no pressure, just regulate the pressure with the hand nozzle. If you have too much water, it just runs down the...

Re: How to start engine on the hard?

I've never done it, but on my boat, I'd close the engine thru hull, open up the strainer and hold the hose over it.
There's also a product called fake a lake which looks like a plunger that you can...

Re: Running one sail

I guess I'm lazy and make no bones about it. My wife and I frequently go out for short 1-2 hour sails. That's what we enjoy. The time and trouble to put up the main for a short sail just ain't...

Re: Beneteau vs Hunter

Don't you just love it when newbies join the forum and the first thing they do is resurrect posts that have been dormant for years.
